This week, Nautilus is participating in meetings of the SASAP (State of Alaska’s Salmon and People) project’s Salmon and Wellbeing Working Group at NCEAS. The Wellbeing group is co-led by Drs. Rachel Donkersloot (AMCC), Jessica Black (UAF) and Courtney Carothers (UAF) and engages a broad cross section of tribal, academic and government experts.
The Wellbeing Working Group seeks to assess how salmon contribute to the wellbeing of Alaskans and is analyzing a diverse range of quantitative and qualitative data (and stories) that will provide new insights into those relationships at individual and community levels.
The Wellbeing group will be harvesting its work to share preliminary findings at the Alaska Forum on Environment in Anchorage in February 2018. Stay tuned for more updates as the synthesis continues.
